
We are so excited to kick off summer at North Chicago Public Library! There will be events, workshops and activities that revolve around this year’s theme of “Plant a Seed, Read”.
North Chicago cardholders of all ages are encouraged to participate in our farm-to-table themed fun by signing up for our Summer Reading Program on June 8th!
Come in on June 8th from 12:00PM-2:00PM to enjoy some outdoor grilling to celebrate our Summer Reading kickoff!
There’s a challenge for each age group!
Pre K – 8th Grade:
How it works: Sign up for our Summer Reading challenge in person at the North Chicago Public Library to pick up your reading log! Come in on June 8th from 11AM-2PM: First 50 kids to sign up will recieve a bookbag, courtesy of Brushwood. Children must be present to recieve a bookbag.
Read 7 books a week. Mark them down on your log and come into the library to recieve a prize after you’ve finished your 7 books!
9th Grade – 12th Grade:
How it works: Sign up for our Summer Reading challenge in person at the North Chicago Public Library and recieve a reading log and a tote filled with goodies!
Read for 20 minutes a day. For everyday you read, log in the day, the title, and genre of your book!
After reading for 15 days, visit us to receive a stamp on your log and a prize!
After reading for 30 days, visit us to receive a prize and a raffle ticket!
18 and over:
How it works: Sign up for our Summer Reading challenge in person at the North Chicago Public Library and recieve a reading log and a tote filled with goodies!
Read 5 hours a week and get a weekly prize once you’ve hit your goal! You’ll also recieve a raffle ticket each week you come to pick up your prize!
