Learning Express Library LearningExpressLibrary provides a completely interactive online learning platform of practice tests and tutorial course series designed to help students, and adult learners succeed on the academic or licensing test they must pass.

A list of the test covered in Learning Express include ACT, ASVAB, Cosmetology, EMT/Paramedic, Firefighter, Law Enforcement, ESL Skills Improvement, Nurse Aide, GED, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, SAT.To Register: Scroll down to the lower right hand side of the computer screen and click on the "Register" button. Then fill in the form (your username is your library card number) and creat a password you will remember.

Job & Career Accelerator
Job & Career Accelerator is the most comprehensive and easy-to-use job search application on the market. It integrates everything a patron needs to conduct a successful job search. Interactive wizards guide patrons through each step of the search process in a personalized manner, from recommending occupations to fetching up-to-the-minute job postings that are based on each user's career preferences. In addition, users will have access to tools essential to getting hired such as the resume and cover letter builders, interview course and tips and expert advice to help make the job search more effective. CQ Researcher
CQ Researcher is a valuable resource when researching current day issues and topics (for example: Adoption, Climate, HIV/AIDS , Technology Advancements, etc.). It's archive goes back to 1991 and is up to date with the newest information. Accessible only from within the library


Reference USA
ReferenceUSA is an Internet-based reference service from the Library Division of infoUSA. The site was designed for use as a reference tool in libraries and is continually enhanced based upon suggestions from librarians and library patrons. This service is only accessible to North Chicago Library card holders. Enter your library card number to access.


Ancestry Library
Ancestry Library Edition is a comprehensive online source of information for conducting genealogical research. Census records; birth, marriage, and death records; immigration records; vital and church records; military records; and court, land, and probate records are included. Popular databases include the U.S. Federal Census from 1790 to 1930, Social Security Death Index, Civil War records, U.S. Public Records Index, American Genealogical-Biographical Index, and slave narratives. Accessible only from within the library. Not remotely accesible.


FIRST SEARCH
First Search includes many databases in areas such as Arts Humanities, Business & Economics, Education and Social Studies. In the education area, there is access to ERIC (Journal articles and reports in education), Article 1st (Index of articles from nearly 12,500 journal and Net First (OCLC database of Internet resources.)Accessible only from within the library

What is the 3M Cloud Libary?

The 3M Cloud Library is a new way North Chicago Public Library cardholders can checkout eBooks. Now you can check out a book on an iPad, take notes while reading on a PC, and finish the book on an Android phone or Nook HD.

Quick Start

step 1 quick start

Download the app.

Download the 3M Cloud Library App from the Apple App Store, Google Play, NOOK Storefront or install the PC or Mac 3M Cloud Library Apps.

step 2 quick start

Log into the library.

Using the drop down menu, select your state (IL), library (North Chicago Public Library), and enter your library ID and PIN. Click agree to terms and log in.
Note: Your pin number is the last four digits of your library card number and is created during the registration process. If your pin does not work, please contact the Circulation Department at 847-689-0125

step 3 quick start

Browse, check out and read.

Now you are ready to browse, check out and read e-books from the library.

step 4 quick start

Transfer e-books.

If you have an eReader use the PC App to load the eBook through a USB connection For more help click here!
