COMMUNITY
North Chicago is part of Lake County, one of the fastest growing counties in the United States. North Chicago is bordered on the north by Waukegan, the county seat. Lake Michigan on the east border provides a multitude of recreational activities to include swimmming, boating, and fishing opportunities.


A shore distance from the city are two major shopping centers. Gurnee Mills Mall, the largest indoor outlet mall in the U.S. is about 10 miles west of North Chicago in Gurnee, IL., and Hawthorne Center Mall in Vernon Hills is also a short driving distance from North Chicago.


Six Flags Great America, an amusement park is across the street from the Gurneee Mills Outlet Mall and is a popular and fun place to spend the day in the summer months.


Lambs Farm, a residential and working community for mentally disabled adults is located in Libertyville and is open all year round with its many shops and attractions.
